Jodie

Kindell

I am a Theatre Creator and Co-Artistic Director of Fur Coat No Knickers Theatre.

With a First-Class BA(Hons) in Acting for Contemporary and Devised Performance, my work is driven by a passion for exploring the untold stories of women—both historical and contemporary—through spoken word, song, and physical comedy.

Alongside my work with Fur Coat No Knickers theatre, I am deeply committed to community engagement, frequently collaborating with the Royal & Derngate Theatre and the University of Northampton.

I thrive on creating theatre that’s not only fun and dynamic but also serves as an accessible platform for feminist voices and narratives.

Some of my recent roles include Assistant Director for Nell Gwynn (2024), Workshop Practitioner for Royal & Derngate’s Youth Community Groups, and Associate Lecturer at the University of Northampton.

At the heart of my practice is a love for making theatre that is bold, outlandish, and, above all, informative—challenging societal norms while celebrating the strength, wit, and resilience of women.

I’m an actor, musician, theatre maker, and co-artistic director of Fur Coat No Knickers Theatre.

I strive to make work that is heartwarming, truthful, witty, and weird—where every story is a celebration of the female experience and a call to action.

Above all, my passion lies in creating art that uplifts and empowers women, using theatre as a platform for meaningful, transformative change.

After graduating with first-class honours in BA-Acting for Contemporary and Devised Performance, I trained at the Au Brana Work Centre with Obra Theatre, which was an invaluable experience. Since, making work with Fur Coat, auditioning for new projects, performing as a singer, and freelancing as a workshop facilitator for young people- guiding them to explore their creativity and discuss the world around them in the hopes of fostering the change I wish to see.

I have always longed to make work that is more than entertainment. I want to be part of a community that strives for change through education and art, using creativity as a tool to inspire dialogue, challenge perspectives, and foster understanding. Through Fur Coat, I found the sense of community I was searching for, and our work has been essential to my growth as an actor and a person.

If having a different hobby

every week

was itself a hobby

then that would be Jodie's favourite hobby.

She designs costumes, sews, cooks, knits, and even has her own artistic alter ego (@clem.fandango.paints).

Her love for all things creative

is fueled by her crippling addiction

to pepsi max

and her lack of interest in getting a 'real job'.

Jodie's biggest creative inspiration is comedy legend Rik Mayall

She will continue to be

a raging feminist killjoy

till the day she dies.

Char

Char likes to think she’s mysterious

but she’s a serial over-sharer.

Climbing things makes her feel like a kid again.

She is playful and odd with a handful of the best friends she would die for

In constant song

Her voice is loud and hard to ignore

She likes it that way.

Writing with all the sadness excitement and fear that comes with being in your 20s, peppered with the drama and angst and regret recalled from that teenage fever dream.

She wants people to use their voices wisely.

She's a sucker for Shakespeare and performing her own stuff.

Chars just happy to be here.
